It all has to do with knowing how to promote and write the angles.My wife use to do sales and promotions for an org and she got them paid shows advertisers and everything sponsors.You can't book a show and just put out flyer's and expect to draw.It is like being in sales.We needs to happen is this::::
1-make you a book of gimmicks and wrestlers bios to give the people to see not just talk.This tells the people you meet with about a show that you are professional.
2-Have a book with prices for the different type of shows ,for example a paid show is 1000.that covers pay for workers and expenses.Then depending on what type of benefit shows you run , like for a school say the school gets 70% of gate and concessions.workers still get paid.It is all about presentation.You need to have something on paper to show them .You work for a company and you go to a meeting , you don't go with out something to show them.
you work on getting sponsors for your shows advertise on the local TV and radio in and around the town you are doing show, all about contacts.
My wife knows radio people and can get this done.She had scw sponsorship for six months .The planet was going to put up billboards ,paid show and do remote broadcast from the show .But because some else was putting in some money-they didn't do it.She got WWC in with the shiner's club in greenville years agoe and we drawed 1000 people each month for a while.It is all about sales.Got to give them a product they want.Talk just deosn't get it
It wont be anything with out proper advertising, That is the key to putting the butts in the sits.some time you have to spend alittle to make a little. You have one or two guys doing sells and promotions and the owners are in the dark then are tring to handle this two .You have to be together on itThat and it takes those from the owners to the offices on the same page and meetings so everyone knows whats going on and being done.Not just one or two handling evryting and the owners left in the dark about the sells and pronmotions of a show.you got to be together on it and the owners need to approve everthing before anything is done.This way you don't have anyone coming back and asking why wasn't this or that done.Everything as in any sells business has to have a proper place a set.Comunication is a big part of any busniess and with out you are just working for nothing .Maybe i said enough but i have seen to many fall because of things not being in place ,because the one in sells and promotioms not letting the owners know whats going own , then the owners doing something else and things get screwed up.It s like at work sometimes too many chiefs and not indians. Then when somesays anything people feel they stepped on their toes , ,this causes a conflict and a blowup that should have never happen.Wrestling like anything else needs to have proper channels and rules and guide lines to abide by , ,this makes for easy trans. and smooth bookings and shows.I have wrote articles on this before for mags.I have gotten a lot of heat before because of it ,but those that gave me the heat are no longer running , cause they tried doing on a show to show bases.It is all about sells and promotion ,every fed needs someone who has experience innthat field.well i might have made some mad , , but think about you run ahome base business.Will it make it if you don't advertise or promote? No!! it wont .Same as a wrestling promotion.If you really set and think about it. . instead of getting mad you will see it makes since.
