Hi guys. I am back at last with a new laptop and some advice! “Don’t go to bestbuy to have your computer repaired” You would not believe the problems caused by them on a simple repair.
Remember guys that my laptop was from the UK. So just before Christmas my LCD screen started to go blank and shortly after it went all together. So I took it in to bestbuy ‘the geek squad’ and explained what the problem was and the guy said “no problem, but because my laptop was not manufactured in the states there could be a wait for any parts that I needed.
So the guy at bestbuy said that an LCD screen was no bid deal to replace and they would call me when the repair was done. One week later no phone call, so I called them and they said “the part has been ordered from the UK and we are still waiting for it to arrive” so I waited. Nine days went past and no phone call, so I called them again
The guy said that there was a problem replacing the LCD so the laptop and the screen were shipped to their head repair centre and they would contact me directly. So again I waited.
I had no phone call from them so I called the local bestbuy where I had taken the laptop in the first place. The guy said that it had been returned to them and it was waiting to be picked up. So I went there waited in line for 20mins and the guy told me that the guys at the head repair centre had caused a problem. While replacing the screen they had fried the motherboard. Well you can imagine my reply, they said ‘there was nothing they could do, and I would have to ship it back to the UK and have them repair it.
I was not happy at all and the manager told me to call bestbuy’s head office and talk to them because there was nothing that store could do for me now. Anyway over the next four days I spoke to head office and they told me I would have to ship the laptop back to the UK and have the original manufacture look at it. I said to them that bestbuy had made the matter worse with the laptop and it was there problem, but they tried to get out of it.
So we spoke to the family lawyer and told him the full story and he told us we had a case. Well guys in the end bestbuy admitted that it was their fault and they would replace the laptop. The problem was, I brought the laptop 3 years ago when I went back to England to visit the family, so now they don’t sell that model no more, and I paid at the time $2130 for it. So bestbuy checked with “PC World” back in England and done a check on the original price and bestbuy’s head office sent me a store credit for $2130.
So in the end I brought a top of the line “Sony VAIO Model: VGN-AX580G” it was $2299. The specs of my old one was still better than the new one but I am just happy I have a computer back.
