Here's the interview I promised
Hi JC Thanks for taking the time out to do this interview. Are you ready?
yes sir i am and thank u for allowing me a chance to tell about myself and how long ive been in the business and about how i got my start.
1) How did you get interested in the business?
Ive always loved wrestling and ever since i was a kid i felt if i ever got a shot to wrestle I would.Alot of people thought it was a faze i was going through, but deep down i always knew i would get a chance one day. Then I met Dangerous Donnie and a friend of his named gentleman james and later on i would go to alot of shows with them and from talking to them,I just knew i wanted to wrestle and get involved in the business.
2)How did you start in wrestling?
Back in 2000 I had heard about BCW starting back up from a person who knew the promoter and he gave me his phone number,so I called Jeff Patton up and talk to him about wrestling and told him i was interested in become a wrestler and was wanting to train.I ended up meeting Jeff and he at the time was trying to get a building and he was going to run a show in hilderbran one night, and he invited me to come and so that night was my first night with BCW.I ended up meeting Dangerous Donnie Webb that night and after the show i came up to him and asked him if would train me when Jeff got a building and he said he would train me.Well jeff ended up not getting a building and got in and out of it a few times so at the time i thought id never get to be train but in 2005 i finally did get to be trained.I would go to shows with donnie and James and they would teach alot of things about the business and being a worker.During the time being I did some ring annoucing for this promotion in ashville and the Burke County Fair shows and I got to Ref a few times as well and ran music.
3)What did you do when you first started?
I started out running music and ring annoucing and reffing a few times before I got in the ring and started wrestling.
4)Who trained you?
I was trained by Dangerous Donnie Webb.I stared my training in the spring of 2005,I trained once a week sometimes twice a week.Im still doing some training right now even though i have been in it a year.I feel the need to polish up on a few things.Donnie taught me alot about the business and i learn more everyday.I remember the first day of training he made me bump I disagree off.he would knock the crap out of to see how much i really wanted to be in it and I didnt say a word I kept on going andI knew one day it was gonna be worth it.
.5)Who have you worked for?
I have worked for Burke County Wrestling out of morganton,nc,Ultimate Championship Wrestling in Marion,NC,UWA out of marion, and For billy Diamond once in lenior,NC.
6) Who did you wrestle when you first started?
My first match was a six man tag team match at the pavillion skating rink in morganton,nc.I was in a six man with big time bray and my tag team partner "hot shot" Jamie stubbs we worked the mafia that night.I remember how nervous i was that night and how exicted i was in the days going into my first match. The Date was july 21,2005.
7)How long have you been wrestling, who for and what titles have you held?
I have only been wrestling a little over a year.Mainly I have wrestled for Jeff patton(BCW).Ive also got to wrestle for JW Wright(UCW),Big Daddy Z (UWA) and once for Billy Diamond(cant remember the name of his company).I have been BCW World tag team champion twice with "Hot Shot"Jamie Stubbs(dangerous donnies little brother we also trained together).I was co-rookie of the year last year and most popular wrestler of the year for BCW.Ive been around the business for around 6 years as a ring announcer and sometimes referree before i got to wrestle.
8)Do you just manage now or wrestle or both?
Right now i just wrestle,I wish got to more than what I do but hopefully soon ill get the chance.
9) Would you ever just manage?
I would considering managing if something were to come up and I wasnt able to get in the ring anymore.Hopefully That wont happen but u never know.I would also do if i decided i wanted to retire from the ring.
10)Ever been injured? If so how injured and how long where you out?
I have hurt my back before when i got splashed one time but it was not anything serious,as a matter of fact i wrestled agian to days after that match.Im Lucky I have never really got hurt real bad and havent had to stay out because of it.
11)Do you every regret being in wrestling?
No,I dont regret being in wrestling, sometimes i watch my matches and regret how i did and but from talking to people and learing from them i learn from the mistakes.I do get upset from time to time cause i dont get to work shows as much as I would like but hopefully things will change for me.I love wrestling and hope to get to do it for a long time.
12) Do you still wrestle and if so, who for?
Right now i have wrestled in about a month,I wrestled the last show for Bcw in october.Ive emailed a couple of promoters from around this area to see if they need some workers, hopefully something will come up and I can be back in the ring doing what I love.In the mean time im gonna do some more training and work out some to get in better shape.
13)Do you think you'll ever quit?
/I cant say that Ill never quit cause I never know if something would happen to me that id have to or not.I hope that i can be in the ring for long time and get to leave when im ready instead of health or a bad injury.I cant take anything for granted cause i never know what may happen.
14}Is it as fun now for you as it was when you first started?
I still feel it is as fun for me as it was when i first got in the ring,I love it and look forward to everything i get to wrestle.I have had to put up with crap like from jeff patton not running alot and some other stuff but other that I still enjoy it.
15) Have you been invited to work out of state, if so with who?
Right now Ive never been asked to work out of state.Hopefully one day i will get my chance.I would love to go to south carolina and tennesse and work. Those are 2 places ive always dreamed of working.
16)In your own words, who did you look up to?
First and foremost I look up to God,hes the one who i have always been able to turn to.I look up to my parents for raising me and making me a grown man.Wrestling wise I look up to My trainer Dangerous Donnie webb alot,Hes always believed id make it in the ring and has always encouraged me to do better and has helped me alot alone the way, besides being the one who trained me,he is also one of my best friends and is basically like a brother to me.
17) What were your favorite moments?
The first ever show when Bcw ran at the riverside rec. center. There was over 300 people there that night and most of them were kids i knew from the local high school cause i help coach over there. When i came out to the ring the crowd went nuts and was cheering for me the whole time and then when me and my partner won the belts that night they went nuts.Another favorite moment was wrestling at the burke county fair last year in fron of over 350 people and it was a blast, getting to wrestle donnie was a pleasure too,he helped take care of me and we just had one awesome match. It was a 3 way tag team match for the belts.
18)What were some of your favorite sayings, and why ?
I dont really have any sayings i say while wrestling. Some of the favorite sayings i like is phil.4:13 "i can do all things through christ who strengthens me".Another saying i like and is the one that i heard on a commerical one time."the person who says he can and the person who says he cant are both right.which one are u."I that one because if u believe u can do something and u put your mind to it u can do it,but if u have doubts about something u will not get it done.
.
19)What is next forJ C Steele?
Hopefully I will be getting to wrestle more over the next few months.Right now Im gonna start working out and getting in better ring shape and get some more training in so i will learn more.I plan on running a new gimmick soon donnie helped me come up with.I really believe it will work.I look forward to cause Ive been bad before and i love it more than i do being good.I plan on doing my best and getting better everytime i step into the ring.
20)Will we ever see a lot of you in the future?
Hope fully I will get the chance to wrestle more as i get more experience.I believe I will make a name for myself and I am planning on working hard at it by getting better and improving.I hope to be known one day around the carolinas, not like i was seen on the video that was made, cause thats worst ive ever done in a match,i was so nervous.I hope to known as someone who works very hard in the ring and always improves.
Id like to thank u agian for giving a chance tell people about me and id like thank u for talking to me about wrestling and helping me.Id also like to thank Dangerous donnie for training me and for the help he was giving me.Id also want to thank the fans who have came to watch me.
